Today (31st March), is World Backup Day, but what is a backup and why is it so important to backup our documents safely? A backup is quite simply as the word suggests – a copy or a backup of your important files. These files may include bills, family photos, work documents and emails. By storing another copy separately, should something happen to your computer or phone, your information is safe and easily accessible.

Recent statistics show that losing your files or data is a lot more common than you’d think, with statistics showing:

  • 21% of people never having made a backup
  • 29% of data loss cases caused by accident
  • 30% of all computers are already affected by malware

So, how can you protect your data? At Automated Intelligence, we advise our customers across a range of industries to migrate to the cloud to utilise safety of your backups instead of using expensive local storage. This will enable secure online access to critical business data or important personal documents. Storing files in the cloud ensures immediate access, anytime, anywhere whereas using hard drives or USBs to backup data runs the risk of loss or damage.
