Main purpose of job:

Overall responsibility for key solution architecture design and implementation decisions to ensure the solutions delivered meet the needs of customers.

Main duties include: (but not limited to):

  • Take ownership of the development, improvement, and maintenance of entire product(s) as agreed with key stakeholders from across the company
  • Make a key contribution to the strategic technical direction of the products(s)
  • Ensure solutions delivered comply with appropriate quality and security standards
  • Work with the team to provide reliable delivery estimates
  • Maintain a current knowledge of relevant technology advances and trends, evaluating their applicability and benefits to our customers
  • Recommend best practices to improve performance, scalability and reduce costs of both existing and new solutions / features
  • Contribute to the creation and promotion of standards and best practices
  • Mentor other members of staff ensuring best practices and encouraging career development and growth
  • Innovate and encourage others to contribute to the development of an innovation culture
  • Provide technical guidance and support to assist all departments within the business in resolving technical problems / challenges, including investigation into specific issues and researching improvements to existing functionality
  • Work with 3rd parties (partners and customers) as required to identify best approaches to solution integration
  • Assist with tender responses as required
  • Contribute to identifying, tracking and reporting of appropriate KPIs
  • Any other reasonable duties as required

Essential skills:

  • A minimum of 6 years' experience in a Senior Software Engineering role
  • Experience in a lead engineering role responsible for product architecture design
  • Development experience using C# / .NET
  • Knowledge of OOP, design patterns and SOLID principles
  • Experience working in a DevOps culture with CI/CD
  • Proven ability in architecting distributed cloud-based solutions
  • Experience with API design and architectural styles such as; REST, OAuth and architectural patterns such as microservices
  • Experience of working with orchestration and containerisation e.g. Docker, Kubernetes
  • Experience supporting members of the team with technical guidance and assistance where required e.g. mentoring on code reviews and architectural design
  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • The right to work in the UK

Desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of testing automation approaches
  • Knowledge of load testing practices
  • Good understanding of resilience and auto-scaling
  • Experience developing and deploying solutions to the cloud (preferably Microsoft Azure)
  • Experience of UI development using ReactJS
  • Experience of working in the FinTech sector
  • Comfortable engaging with colleagues and customers at all levels
